Makeup reviews: Kat Von D Shade + Light contour pallete.

Hi guys and dolls! Today I am reviewing one of my favorite makeup products ever. Can you guess what it is? It’s the Kat Von D Shade and Light Contour Palette! I am honestly so excited to be able to share my opinion of this wonderful product with you guys.

You all know I am a simple girl, I limit myself to eyeshadows, foundations, blushes and liquid eyeliners. But, my wonderful husband decided to surprise me on my previous birthday with a makeup product I had never owned, a contour palette. Oh and not only a contour palette, no no no, a VEGAN and cruelty free contour palette. Honestly, he’s amazing!

Now, I am a very adventurous lady when it comes to trying new things, but I had no idea on how to contour my face. So I looked for some Youtube tutorials and decided to give it a shot. Now, one of the first things I noticed about this palette is the fact that the product is very light but yet extremely pigmented. You really require a minimum amount of product to get a really nice result, so that’s good because the palette is gonna last for a good while. Also, the shades have cold and warm undertones, so it’s good for when you need it to match a specific look.

This whole palette is composed of three highlight shades and three contour shades as well, so you can totally mix and match for perfect contour. Now, the thing that scared me the most about doing contour was the fact that I did not want my face to look dirty or droopy, so I tried to make it look as clean as possible. The truth is that the palette is amazing, the shades are super buttery and it is possible to build them up really nicely.

I started with a bit of the lighter shade and built it up as much as needed. Also, the highlights are amazing and can even work as a setting powder. So I must say this palette was great for a first contouring experience. Oh, also a big plus is that the shades are refillable. So if there's any one that I use more than the others I am able to change it in the pallete without having to buy the whole thing.

This is definitely a day to day go to palette, even if it's just for the subtle, matt highlighters. How to add olive oil into your daily beauty routine

Everyone knows how beneficial olive oil is to our body when ingesting it in a moderate manner. But have you ever thought about using it as a beauty treatment? Most of the time we gravitate toward natural, organic or mineral beauty products from industrial brands in the hopes that they will be better for our skin, but we often overlook the really simple things. We tend to gravitate towards products with ingredients like olive oil since we have always heard about its benefits.

However, why should we look for it in creams when we can use it in its natural state? Natural olive oil has many more benefits without the preservatives and chemicals that are added to the creams. One of the most important is that it prevents the death of the cells of our body, since among its components it has powerful antioxidants. Part of the benefits of olive oil are also due to the presence of certain elements that are excellent at preventing aging and improving life expectancy.

There are three main reasons why olive oil is good for our skin. First of all, olive oil is natural so it won't leave any artificial chemicals in your skin (First point in favor!). Second, it is a hypoallergenic moisturizer that is very efficient (Second point in favor!). And third, it provides antioxidants such as vitamin A, D, K and E that help us regenerate and repair the skin from sun damage, pollution, smoking and other harmful elements (Third point in favor!).

Here are 5 ways in which you can use olive oil as an all natural beauty product:

Makeup remover: Put some drops of oil in a cotton ball and perform circular movements to remove makeup. It works for all skin types, you can easily remove waterproof makeup without mistreating it, it does not cover the pores, and if it falls in the eyes it will not burn (unlike some cream makeup).
Moisturizing Lotion: There are areas of the body that we have to exfoliate constantly, such as the knees and elbows. Put a little olive oil in these areas after the exfoliation helps moisturize and keep it soft for longer.
Capillary mask: For those who suffer from dry and frizzy hair, applying a mask of olive oil can help soften it, moisturize it and give it more shine. Once a week you can apply olive oil in all the hair and wrap it with a towel. Leave for 15 minutes and then wash your hair normally.
Lotion for after shaving or after a wax: If you shave or have ever shaved, you will have noticed that it leaves the skin quite dry and opaque. Instead of applying creams (whose affection does not last very long) you can apply a little olive oil to the skin. It nourishes the skin, helps it to hydrate and will remain very soft.
Rinse: Can also be used as a rinse by mixing it with a little crushed avocado. Apply on wet hair, leave a couple of minutes and wash your hair as usual.

Review: Ecotools starter brush set.

Hey everyone! Today I'm going to be reviewing my favorite makeup brushes, Ecotool's Starter Brush Set. As a vegan in the making and a passionate animal rights activist; I always look for vegan/cruelty free alternatives to everyday things. Here in Venezuela, that's something that is really hard to achieve. So, imagine my surprise when a few years ago I found these babies in a beauty store in a local mall. I actually hadn't heard about this brand before, so I googled it when I got home. When I found out these brushes are vegan and made out of sustainable materials (like bamboo) I pretty much RAN back to the mall to buy them. First time I tried these brushes, three things stood out to me:

They are extremely soft. I am not kidding. I can imagine clouds being as soft as these brushes. These are the best synthetic bristles I've ever seen!
Perfect set for starters. It's pretty basic, it has a concealer brush, eye shading brush, blush brush, angled eyeliner brush and a lash and brow groomer. This allows for anyone to create a complete makeup look without having to use any other brushes. I personally find the angled eyeliner brush a bit wide, so I use it to fill in my eyebrows and I clean it off to apply highlighter in the inner corners of my eyes.
Perfect quality/price ratio. For certain reasons, these brushes can't be found in Venezuela anymore (And if you find them, they're very, very, very expensive). Some people sell them online but the price is still going to be exorbitant. The moment I bought them, the price was really really good, and by what I can appreciate in online stores that sell these bad boys, the prices are perfect for the quality of the product you're getting. If you're looking for good quality/low price brushes, these are the perfect choice for you. I use these brushes daily and I've never had bristles come off or anything of the sort, not even when I wash them.

Usually when I buy something that hasn't been recommended by someone I act a bit skeptical, but these brushes were an amazing surprise. I totally recommend them 100%. I bought the set pictured below, but you can get the same set in a new design at www.EcoTools.com
