2015 Book list & reviews.

Hey guys! I'm glad to bring you this year's book list. As some of you know, last year I made a New Year resolution to read a book per month. My 2014 book list contains a total of 19 books (I forgot there were so many!) and you can check it out right here 2014 Book list & reviews. This year though, I could only manage to read 7 books. I guess I either didn't have the time or the will to read a bit more. At one point I even heard an audiobook out of sheer lazyness! Nevertheless, I do feel I read some pretty amazing books this year, so here goes my book list, I hope you like it!

Books

  1. The Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe: This is a short story I read thanks to an app I downloaded in my previous smartphone. Since that smartphone died, I wasn't able to re-download the app to read more. I really did like this story and now I really wanna adopt a black cat, name it Pluto and give it tons of love!
  2. Hercule Poirot's Christmas by Agatha Christie: I loved loved loved this book! It was pretty amazing, I am convinced Dame Agatha Christie has been the best police and suspense novel writer in history! I enjoyed this book immensely! I totally recommend it.
  3. Divergent by Veronica Roth: I read this book out of curiosity because I really liked the movie. I wasn't blown away by it or disappointed. I feel it was a good book, my problem was that I can't read a book with interest after I've seen the movie adaptation. I feel no exitement or motivation to finish it. It was still a good read though.
  4. Happy Family by David Safier: This book was given to me as a secret Santa present by a cousin. I read it, I finished it and I loved it. It is a very relaxing read, very funny and relatable. 10/10 would read again.
  5. 1984 by George Orwell: THIS BOOK. This freaking book! It's so real, so truthful. I really regret not having read it sooner and I deeply think it should be studied in high schools all around the world. The more I read through this book, the more I felt like I was living in it. The resemblance between IngSoc (English Socialist Party - From the book) and PSUV (United Socialist Party of Venezuela - The actual President's political party) is uncanny. It's like George Orwell had written the future of Venezuela in that book. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! PLEASE, READ IT!
  6. Hamlet by William Shakespeare: I read this in half a day. I had wanted to read it for a very long time and I finally did. It was just as good as I thought it would be.
  7. The Gunslinger by Stephen King: My brother gave me this book as a birthday present a few years ago (Thanks Josi!). It's a really cool edition, it actually has some art in the middle and it's pretty awesome. I had a bit of a hard time getting hooked by it though. The beginning was a bit confusing and a lot of references to other characters were made that, quite frankly, I didn't understand. I did get hooked at the end, but I couldn't bring myself to look for the sequels. I'll definitely try to read them this year!

Ongoing

These are books I started reading but haven't finished yet, so they don't go on the list. They will be on next year's list though.

  1. Animal Farm by George Orwell: I am dying because I haven't finished it. It looks like I'm going to love it as much as 1984.
  2. The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera: I don't know what happened here, but I think I fell in love with every single character (Except Tomas). I can't wait to finish it!

Audiobook

  1. Grammy by Stephen King: This one actually scared me a lot. I was listening to it at night, home alone, with the sole company of my two dogs and cat. Funny story: When I was getting to the ending of the audiobook the house phone rang. Guess who it was. My grandma! Gosh I got scared that day. It's definitely scary.
